Volume Shockers: Nelcast, Jaypee Infratech, Venky's India
Nelcast, Jaypee Infratech, Venky’s India and Petronet LNG have rallied on the bourses on the back of huge volumes.
Jaypee Infratech has rallied 20% to Rs 59 on reports that the promoters may be raising their stake in the company as valuations become more attractive. The trading volumes have surged more than ten-fold, with 10.9 million shares changing hands on the counter till 1458 hours. The stock has reported its biggest gain since the company listed in May 2010. The company had raised Rs 2,258 crore by issuing shares at a price of Rs 102 a share.
Nelcast has surged 17% to Rs 29.30 after reporting a 410% jump in net profit at Rs 12.75 crore for the quarter ended September 2011 compared to Rs 2.50 crore in the corresponding quarter of the previous year. A combined two million shares have changed hands on the counter on both the exchanges.
Packaged foods stocks such as Venky’s India and Srinivasa Hatcheries have rallied more than 10% each on an over two-fold jump in trading volumes.
The Byke Hospitality (formerly known as Suave Hotels) has frozen at the upper circuit of 10% at Rs 196 after acquiring a resort in South Goa. Around 551,000 shares have changed hands on the counter so far and there are pending buy orders for 115,113 shares on the Bombay Stock Exchange.
