Mid-cap Monitor
The broader markets have extended their gains and have outperformed the benchmark indices in trade today. The BSE Mid-cap index has advanced 0.9% to 6,025 and the small-cap index is up 0.8% at 6,663.
Among the key mid-cap gainers, Prestige Estates is the top gainer, up 15%. FMCG stocks like Marico, Tata Global Beverages and Jubilant Foodworks have gained between 5 – 6%.
From the Healthcare sector, Wockhardt, Orchid Chemcials, Biocon, Aurobindo Pharma have gained between 2-6%. Pharma stocks are in the limelight after a global rating agency Fitch said its outlook on India's pharmaceutical sector for 2012 remains stable.
Shreyas Shipping & Logistics has galloped 20% after the company’s board decided to segregate the business of shipping and logistics. JK Lakshmi Cement is also trading 20% higher on reports that the company has announced buyback plan of its own equity shares from the existing shareholders.
The other key gainers include Alok Industries, JSW ISPAT Steel, Eros International Media, Jagran Prakashan, AIA Engineering and SCI that have gained between 5-7%.
The overall breadth of the BSE mid-cap index remains positive as 157 stocks are advancing while 95 are declining.
