Hindalco rises on capex plans

Hindalco is trading 4% higher at Rs 177 after announcing plans to spend around Rs 21,000 crore for capital expenditure.
The company will spend Rs 10,000 crore in 2010-11 and Rs 11,000-crore in 2011-12 on account of an ongoing expansion programme that should be commissioned between 2012 and 2014.

"The company planned to invest Rs 9,200 crore in its Mahan aluminum project in Madhya Pradesh, which would have a capacity of 360,000 tonnes annually of aluminum metal, along with a 900 MW captive power plant,&" according to the report.
Around 209,000 shares have changed hands on the counter so far.
